Set in the Shinigami technical school for weapon meisters, the series revolves around 3 groups of each a weapon meister and a human weapon. Trying to make the latter a "Death Scythe" which is the highest title for a weapon and thus fit for use by the Shinigami, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch. Maka & Soul Eater, Black Star & Tsubaki, and Death the Kid with Patty and Liz Thompson are the characters Soul Eater revolves around. Besides taking the time to gather souls, these students of Shibusen defend Death City from some of the most powerful of creatures while still attending school and trying to become stronger.

Halloween and Anime together at last, Soul Eater is one of my favourite anime. Produced by Bones, who brought us Ouran High School Host Club, Darker than BLACK, and Wolf's Rain. Soul Eater is adapted from the manga by Ookubo Atsushi. It is of personal importance to mention the manga for the animer…
Read full review on AniList →If you’re a fan of the nineties stop motion movie The Nightmare Before Christmas, your vision of a land based entirely on the tropes, designs and conventions of Halloween is a dark, depressing town where every single resident is ironically joyful and pleasant towards one another. Soul Eater, on th…

My memories of Soul Eater were all distinctly visual before I got to rewatch it, and it makes sense: it's probably…
Read full review on AniList →___Soul Eater___ introduces a type of shōnen full of satire and self awareness while also giving depth to the three main characters with their sidekicks/weapons introduced separately in each of the first three episodes: Maka, Death the Kid and Black Star. The premise of the show given in the 1st epi…
Read full review on AniList →>#####Might contain very minor inconsequential spoilers ___ <p align="justify"> I am feeling pretty mixed towards this because of the final stretch of episodes, but its leaning more on the positive side. I still think Soul Eater is without a doubt one of the most stylish and distinctive shounen…
Read full review on AniList →__THIS ANIME IS MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE__, and I am not exaggerating even a little bit when I say that. From the very first episode, I was completely hooked. There’s just something about the animation style that hits in the most nostalgic, comforting way. It has that slightly gritty, stylized look that…
Read full review on AniList →Soul Eater is one of those anime that begins with a burst of energy stylish visuals, a unique sense of personality, and an opening episode that suggests you’re in for something bold, creative, and full of momentum. The early aesthetic is striking: heavy shadows, exaggerated shapes, and a playful got…
Read full review on AniList →--- ~~~Watching this anime was more than just finishing another battle shounen. I originally watched it when I was about 13-14, when I wasn't even a true anime fan, just a fan of individual titles. I watched the first nine episodes and stopped for no apparent reason. I liked it, but sometimes you j…
