Began his career in animation at [Studio 4°C](https://anilist.co/studio/13/), where he worked on projects like [Genius Party Beyond](https://anilist.co/anime/6795/). In 2011, he was handpicked by then president [Masao Maruyama](https://anilist.co/staff/103170/) to join [Mappa](https://anilist.co/studio/569/) as a producer. He then went on to work as an animation producer on numerous titles such as [Kids on the Slope](https://anilist.co/anime/12531/), [Terror in Resonance](https://anilist.co/anime/20661/) and [Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis](https://anilist.co/anime/20590/). In April 2016, Maruyama handed Ootsuka the reigns of the studio and he took on the role of a producer and the CEO.
