One of the leading experimental filmmakers in Japan. Before he graduated from Art and Technology Department of Kyushu Institute of Design in 1983, he made a debut with the film SPACY in 1981. Studied under Toshio Matsumoto during his college years. Currently a Professor of Art and Design at Kyoto University.
