As today is the first day of the Chinese New Year, I thought of reviewing an anime that is based on the Chinese culture/theme/history etc. While browsing through my list of completed anime, this was the only one that I could find that is based on historical Chinese. So, let's get to it.

A solid and endearing period drama that is not quite a true mystery series
The Apothecary Diaries is a likeable enough historical drama that is more parts the atmosphere of intrigue than a proper mystery. To be fair to the show, it does not really bill itself as something in the vein of Agatha Christie, where the focus would be on the construction of its mystery as a puzzlâŠ
Back in 2023, I watched 13 episodes of season 1 and thought this was going to be my favorite show of the year. For various reasons: the animation is gorgeous, the level of details is amazing. The soud mixing is also great and makes you feel immersed in the universe.
