Wracked by insomnia and wanderlust, Kou Yamori is driven onto the moonlit streets every night in an aimless search for something he can’t seem to name. His nightly ritual is marked by purposeless introspection — until he meets Nazuna, who might just be a vampire! Kou’s new companion could offer him dark gifts and a vampire’s immortality. But there are conditions that must be met before Kou can sink his teeth into vampirism, and he’ll have to discover just how far he’s willing to go to satisfy his desires before he can heed the Call of the Night!

One Of The Best Showings Of Nighttime Ambience I've Ever Seen
The night is a very unexplored landscape for many of us. Some of us perceive it as dangerous and scary, and some others perceive it as a time to party, to let themselves go, and for most of us, we’re probably fast asleep. I’m sure a lot of you have experienced a time in life when you just didn’t wan…

Call of the Night is a relaxing vampire anime about an antisocial middle school student named Kou. One night wandering the streets, he encounters a mysterious woman named Nazuna, and she turns his world upside down. As Kou gets to know her, he discovers that she's a vampire who has lived for decades…
A Surreal Visual Experience that Showcases The Issue of Trying to Find Purpose in Life
(Completely spoiler free)
Everyone has felt the feelings of being unmotivated and dissatisfied with the regular motions of life. We seek comfort in many ways gaming, watching animes, or maybe picking up a random new hobby.
Ko Yamori is much like the rest of us except he takes comfort in going out…
Unable to decide between night-time romance and vampire thriller, Call of the Night falls just short of greatness.

Vampires. Anime absolutely *loves* vampires. From *Monogatari* to *Jojo*, *Mars Red* to *Vlad Love*. Something about this western monster has captured Japan's imagination so much that we see it absolutely everyw…
It does occasionally stumble, but it's a fun take on modern-day vampirism and the "Other" in more ways than one.
While we often associate the start of Gothic vampire fiction with Bram Stoker’s *Dracula* from 1897, it would be more accurate to say that it grew in 1872 with Irish writer Sheridan Le Fanu’s *Carmilla.* The novella tells of a girl named Laura and the vampire mistress she meets and later takes into…
Yofukashi no Uta is one of the most hyped anime of this season. It’s not weird to have this kind of show where a guy with no personality finds a girl literally falling from the sky and then taking him into making his life more interesting, you know, the standard premise of romance anime, but this ti…
The spirit of Monogatari lives again, in all its mesmerizing, problematic beauty.
Genuine question: is the Monogatari series still relevant in today’s weebdom? I know when I started getting into anime back in 2017, it was still hot on everyone’s mind. But now that it’s finished airing, I wonder if Shaft’s decade-long arthouse supernatural romantic dramedy still holds the same pul…
I started watching _Call of the Night_ on a whim; I heard the manga was good, so I gave episode one a go. I thought it was alright, even though it was more of a slice-of-life show (and I don’t usually go out of my way to watch SOL shows these days). But after watching the second episode, my perspect…
A beautiful illustration marred by underage grooming and muddled plot.

Everything written in this review must be considered from the perspective that I took while watching through _Call of the Night_. While our main human characters are canonically fourteen and in middle school, a fact that I am loathe to recognise…
The atmosphere can make or break an anime, swing too much in one direction and it becomes overwhelming and oppressive, stay too neutral and it can make everything feel boring. Studio LIDENFILMS understands that perfectly as it balances fear of the unknown but also the release from the known, making…

My heart is broken.
As I really like the concept of the story, I noticed that they didn’t turn out to be exactly what I thought before. I never really had expectations for this, but there’s only one reason why I…

I want to start this review by saying I loved this show, would highly recommend. It has an amazing art style, decent soundtrack and the dub (the way I watched it) while not the best wasn't bad,

Sexy, insightful and at times poignant, 14-year-old me would have been completely enthralled
Call of the Night is a show that's all about its characters, specifically Kou and Naz, which is just as well because there's not much of a plot. That's not to say a plot is necessary, although its lack is felt when anyone new is introduced, like they poof into existence as needed. If we assume the p…
well worth the watch and a surprising, but welcome addition to the summer 2022 season
Firstly : the characters, kou yamori is a fantastic protagonist for this type of story, he is a boy that is bored with his life, so after getting a taste of the vibrancy and beauty of the night he decides that he wants to become a vampire, it’s a simple plot that is so easy to get behind because kou…
