Synopsis

The date is 2002, three years after the events of PATLABOR 1 – Mobile Police. The destruction of a United Nations Labor team in South East Asia begins the build-up to a deadly terrorist plan that threatens to send shockwaves throughout Japan's military. With evidence of an impending military takeover, the scattered members of the original SVD (Special Vehicle Division) must gather to defend the city against danger. To make matters worse, the mastermind behind the operation is none other than Nagumo's former teacher and ex-lover Tsuge. (Source: Anime News Network)

A cinematic masterpiece of unjust peace

webm(https://v.animethemes.moe/MobilePolicePatlabor2-OP1.webm) What elevates a sequel over its original? With only a few exceptions, it typically never happens. From the blinding of nostalgia glasses, lack of care and production that made the original great, changing the initial formula ever so sl…

An Effective Allegory—But a Disappointing Patlabor Movie

~~~Let me preface this review by saying __this movie is worth seeing__. There's a lot to appreciate about it, so I'll start with that.~~~ ___ ~~~__The Good__~~~ Directed by Mamoru Oshii, _Patlabor 2_ confidently exhibits many attributes that would come to be seen as defining characteristics of his…
The Obsession with Peace
When I first watched Patlabor 2, I didn't really say much about it, I was actually kind of overwhelmed by the whole deal upon first watch. As my 2nd Mamoru Oshii movie after Patlabor 1, I wasn't really used to the Oshii’s style either but if there was 1 thing I can say is that I loved it, the overtl…
A wonderful movie for fans of political intrigue and the mecha genre.
The second Patlabor movie is a direct sequel to the first movie, being famous for its mechanical animation and the participation of the legendary Satoshi Kon as a layout artist. And, unlike its prequel, the plot and character development is nearly at the same level than the incredible visual directi…
A potentially neat plot ruined by insanely dry storytelling and stupid philosophy
Just a few prefaces before i get into this. - This is not my first review I've ever written, it is going to be the first one that i probably won't delete in the future, though. - Until now i didn't like the idea of writing reviews like this one because i don't like doing a complete overview of a…
It's a good political thriller that's quite smart, but I just wasn't as engaged as I was with the first movie.
__Quick tldr__ Patlabor the movie 2 is a political thriller that can get a bit too lost in the sauce, so to speak. Compared to the first patlabor, it's even lighter on action and doesn't utilise its' full cast as well as the first did. It's still a good movie and well worth a watch. __More detaile…
